1 FBI Investigation Stops "Mass Casualty Attack" From Pennsylvania Man
Federal officials say they stopped a planned ISIS-inspired mass casualty attack by a 21-year-old Pennsylvania man who had pledged allegiance to the terrorist group. Jonathan Kramer of Valencia was arrested Saturday outside a hotel in Cranberry Township, about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh. The FBI says agents had been watching Kramer after finding online activity that showed support for ISIS and discussions about ways to carry out attacks. Agents followed Kramer on Saturday as he left home with a backpack and met someone in a Walmart parking lot, where he picked up a long black bag that could hold a rifle. Searches of his hotel room and home turned up a semiautomatic rifle, loaded magazines, a scope, ammunition, about 30 knives and a note telling people not to look for him.
2 US Household Income Tops Pre-Pandemic Levels For First Time
Median U.S. household income rose above pre-pandemic levels last year for the first time, reaching $87,460 after adjusting for inflation. That was up 2.6-percent from the year before and slightly above the 2019 level of $85,320. Even so, the gain over six years was small compared with the much faster income growth seen before the pandemic, showing how higher prices have eaten into buying power. The Census Bureau also found that women’s earnings rose 3.2-percent last year while men’s pay slipped slightly, narrowing the gender pay gap.
3 Kennedy Center Board Votes To Close Institution Immediately For Renovations
The Kennedy Center board has voted to close the Washington arts complex immediately for renovations, according to a source familiar with the decision. The Trump-aligned board says the building needs major repairs and financial help, while a federal judge has blocked efforts to add President Donald Trump’s name to the center without congressional approval. Congress previously approved $250 million for renovations, but Trump says construction will not actually begin until an appeals court rules on the name dispute; he says he has raised $17 million in private donations to support the center.
