The South San ISD is keeping four schools open after talking about possibly closing them because of declining enrollment. The board voted on Wednesday evening not to shut down Athens Elementary, Kindred Elementary, Hazen Middle School, and West Campus High School. Some of the parents at the meeting, as well as some of the board members, thought the vote was taken without enough discussion. Board President Ernesto Arrellano says federal COVID funds will keep the schools open for about another year and a half.
