UTSA Moves Up In Polls

Following the 45-16 road win over Louisiana Tech on Saturday, UTSA has moved up in both national polls this week to No. 22 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll released today.

Off to the best overall (8-0) and conference (4-0) starts in program history, the Roadrunners received 219 votes this week to move from No. 25 to 22nd in the USA TODAY AFCA Coaches Poll. Last week’s ranking was the first appearance in the top 25 in program annals and this marks the seventh straight week the Roadrunners have acquired votes in that poll.

Currently riding a school-record eight-game winning streak — the third-longest active streak in the FBS — the Roadrunners received 235 votes to jump one spot from No. 24 to 23rd in this week’s AP Top 25. Last week’s ranking was the first time UTSA cracked the top 25 in the poll. This also marks the fifth consecutive week and sixth time overall UTSA has received votes in the poll. On Sept. 20, 2020, UTSA collected two votes in the AP Top 25 Poll, a first for the program.

The Roadrunners — one of nine unbeaten FBS teams as of Oct. 23 — will take this weekend off before traveling to El Paso to face UTEP (6-1, 3-0) next Saturday, Nov. 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Sun Bowl and the game will air on ESPN Networks and Ticket 760.
