Shutdown Order for El Paso County Extended Until December

El Paso County Judge Riccardo Samaniego has extended his stay-at-home order until December. Samaniego says he extended his order specifically to prevent gatherings at Thanksgiving. He says as long as hospitalizations due to COVID-19 continue to hover around thirty percent, he will do what he can to protect the community. The Texas Attorney General's office has been fighting Samaniego's order and had asked the state Supreme Court to pause the shutdown but yesterday, the court denied the state's request.
