Enrollment Down At SA's Three Largest School Districts

Education

All three of San Antonio's largest school districts are reporting reduced enrollment in the new school year. Officials with Northside ISD say they're about 2,700 tudents short of expectations, but they say it's not surprising because of the pandemic. Northeast ISD says they're down about 3,000 kids, and San Antonio ISD says their shortfall is about 2,400. All three districts say the biggest decreases are among pre-K and kindergarteners, possibly because Texas law doesn't mandate attendance in those grades.
