Texas Democrats Boost Pressure To Bring About Mail-In Voting

The Texas Democratic Party wants a federal judge in San Antonio to issue an order by May 15th requiring expanded voting-by-mail in the state. The party made the request on Wednesday as an update to an ongoing lawsuit. Texas law allows mail-in ballots only under certain conditions having to do with a voter's age or health. The Democrats say fear of the coronavirus pandemic is reason enough to allow any Texan to vote by mail. They're asking for the order by mid-May to give county election officials time to prepare for primary runoffs in July.
