A pickup truck lost a tire on the city's south side overnight, causing it to drift into the oncoming lane and slam head on into an oncoming SUV, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say it happened at Zarzamora and Highway 16.
Two people in the SUV died at the scene, and a third was rushed to the hospital.
The driver of the pickup was also hospitalized.
Police say the accident remains under investigation.
