Man Murdered Northwest of Downtown

Gunfire rank out in a quiet neighborhood northwest of downtown today, and when the smoke had cleared, a man lay dead, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The body was found under a bridge at Rivas and Trinity.

Police say they believe the victim was a homeless drug addict. Neighbors say he was probably from the nearby Haven for Hope.

"My family has lived in this neighborhood for four or five generations, and it's gotten ugly man," one neighbor told 1200 WOAI's Michael Board.  "It's ugly."

Police say the shooting is not random, that it likely involved gangs and drugs.
