Fired H-E-B Executive Convicted in Child Porn Case

A fired H-E-B executive is facing spending the rest of his life in prison after being convicted late Wednesday on multiple counts of possession and promotion of child pornography, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

It took the judge in the trial of John Campbell, 66, to even read all the charges against the defendant, who is accused of stockpiling child porn on his workplace computer.  The was convicted of 49 separate counts.

Campbell was busted when he sent an e-mail to a co-worker, and a child porn image was attached."He is guilty of both possession and promotion of child pornography, the evidence has been overwhelming, prosecutors said.

Defense lawyers said the images discovered on Campbell's computer have to be 'considered one at a time.'

They claimed that some were simply close ups of genital regions, so it would have been impossible to tell if they were photographs of a person under the age of 18, which is a requirement for a child pornography conviction.

The defense also argued that since some of the photographs were apparently taken on a public beach, apparently in a nudist resort, they aren't 'lewd' under the law, and don't rise to the level of child porn.

Campbell was ordered taken into custody immediately....he will be sentenced in December.
