While EMS was Treating a Patient-Somebody Stole Their Ambulance

While paramedics were treating a patient on the city's northwest side early Saturday, two men jumped into the ambulance they had brought to the scene and drove off in it, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say EMS techs were  inside a home in the 100 block of Mary Louise, off Fredericksburg Rd about 3:30 AM.. The ambulance was parked outside with the engine running, which is procedure.

Police think two men jumped into the ambulance and drove off with it.

They headed down Fredericksburg Rd at a high rate of speed, smashing into two cars that were stopped at the red light at Wurzbach Rd.. The ambulance was  wedged between the two cars, and the thieves jumped out and ran off.

A woman in one of the cars was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries.

A police helicopter scoured the area but was unable to find the thieves.
