Actress Cheryl Ladd to Highlight Holiday River Parade

Actress and San Antonio area resident Cheryl Ladd, who is best known as one of TV's 'Charlie's Angels' from the Seventies, will be the Grand Marshal of the 37th annual Ford Holiday River Parade, which will take place, as usual, on Black Friday evening, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"It's so exciting to be part of something that's such a tradition here in San Antonio, and something that brings such joy to everyone," said Ladd, 66, who now splits her time between acting in movies and TV shows, and running Cheryl Ladd Signature Homes in Boerne along with her long time husband.

The theme of the parade, appropriately, will be 'Christmas at the Movies,' and Maggie Thompson of the San Antonio Riverwalk Association, formerly called the Paseo del Rio Association, says all of the floats will feature famous Christmas themed movies.

"'It's a Charlie Brown Christmas,' we have 'Miracle on 34th Street,' 'Its a Wonderful Life'," she said.

And, in addition to the sights and sounds of Christmas, there will be the scent of the movies.  Thompson says machines will waft the scent of popcorn across the Riverwalk during the parade, so, in addition to getting into the Christmas spirit, participants can get into the movie spirit as well.
