Two More Murder Indictments Against Genene Jones

Two more murder indictments today against 'Killer Nurse' Genene Jones, bringing to four the number of murder charges Jones will face when she gets out of prison in March, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Jones is charged with killing two infants who died following routine treatment on her watch at what was then called Bexar County Hospital, now University Hospital.

Richard Nelson, 8 months old, died in July of 1981, and Patrick Zavala, aged 4, died in January of 1982.Both babies died during the same time frame as two other youngsters who were treated by Jones at the same hospital, Rosemary Vega and Joshua Sawyer.

Bond will be set at $1 million for each of the two new counts.

Jones will be released from the Lane Murray Prison for Women in Gatesville March 1 due to a mandatory release program that was in place when she was convicted in 1984 of killing a toddler at a medical clinic in Kerrville.  

She has served 33 years of a 99 year sentence.

When Jones walks out of prison, she will walk right into the waiting arms of a Bexar County deputy who will handcuff her and take her to the Bexar County Jail, where she will be held on $4 million bond awaiting trial for these four new homicides.

Bexar County Disrict Attorney Nico LaHood is holding out the possibility that additional indictments may be coming.Jones is supected in the murders of as many as fifty children and babies.  LaHood has stated he wants to make sure LaHood is never released from custody.
