The home of all U.S. Air Force basic training, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, was locked down for several hours today due to a posted bomb threat, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
1st Lt. Avery Larkin, the Lackland Public Relations Officer, says the threat was to Arnold Hall, a community and recreation center on the base. She says the post was scoured by security officers while airmen were confined to their barracks and offices.
"We responded appropriately, we notified the appropriate authorities," Larkin said. "We conducted sweeps and secondary sweeps and instructed people to avoid the area and stay indoors."
She says 'normal base operations' have now resumed.
Larkin says an investigation is underway.
She says the threat was against the building and not against any specific individuals.
