Argument Over Garbage Triggers North Side Shooting

An argument over garbage led to a man being shot and critically wounded on the city's north side this morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police were called to the 7200 block of Blanco Road, just north of Lockhill-Selma, about 9:30AM on a report of gunfire.

When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot at least once, lying behind a storage locker company building.

A police detective said an argument broke out between customers at the storage locker and residents of the Escondido Village Apartments, which is across the chain link fence.

The argument residents complained that storage locker customers were tossing their garbage into the apartment's dumpster.

"Some of the people over here were accusing them of dumping their trash over here," he said.  "We don't know now how the person who did the shooting got involved."

Witnesses said the gunman than ran into the apartment complex, where officers were looking for him.
