A televised report says that San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones was gifted premium tickets to Game Six of the Western Conference Finals between the Spurs and Thunder.
The Mayor, however, is not talking about this at all, other than to say she was there.
The original report said the Mayor was spotted a few rows behind the Spurs bench and coach Mitch Johnson.
According to the San Antonio code of ethics, city officials shouldn’t accept any gift or benefit that “reasonably tends to influence or reward official conduct.”
This comes after Jones lost to her City Council colleagues when she tried to slow down negotiations with the Spurs last year. Only three council members went along with her in voting to delay negotiations with the Spurs until the city received a new financial analysis of the project by an independent firm.
The City Council approved a framework agreement with the Spurs and county for public financing for an arena last August.
