Spurs Look to Take 2-0 Lead Over Blazers Tuesday Night

The Spurs look to take a 2-0 lead in their best of seven series with the Blazers when they Portland in Game Two on Tuesday night.

Victor Wembanyama turned in a terrific performance in his playoff debut while leading the Spurs to a 111-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in Game One on Sunday. Wembanyama erupted for a game-high 35 points while knocking down five-of-six attempts from beyond the arc.

Wembanyama was named the 2025-2026 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Monday. He becomes the youngest to ever win the award and also became the award's first unanimous winner.

It is Wembanyama's first major NBA season award. He is the fourth Spurs player to win the award, alongside Alvin Robertson (1985-1986), David Robinson (1991-1992) and Kawhi Leonard (2014-2015, 2015-2016).

The Spurs star averages 3.1 blocks per game this season, with the next closes player averaging 1.9 blocks per game. In all, Wembanyama swatted away 197 shots this year.

Wembanyama might not be done with awards yet. The 22-year-old is also up for the league's Most Valuable Player award, which has yet to be announced.
