Anderson High Student Found with Loaded Gun

There were no verbal threats made by a student who brought a gun to Anderson High School today, but officials say it's a very serious matter.

Principal Brian Lancaster put the school on hold for about 20 minutes Tuesday morning, with no one coming or going at the school, after an anonymous report about 10:45 am that a student had possession of a gun on the campus.

Working with Austin Independent School District police, administrators were able to find the student, found the loaded firearm in his possession and confiscated it.

Parents of students were notified in a letter from the school early in the afternoon.

Principal Lancaster made it clear the student had not presented himself as a threat to others, but possession of a firearm is being treated with utmost emergency measures.

He added that the school and the district have proscribed protocols for handling cases such as this, so those procedures are being followed and the district is cooperating with police, but that's all the information he could share about disciplinary measures.
