Republican Senator Richard Burr could be censured for his vote to convict former President Trump during the Senate impeachment trial.
The North Carolina Republican Party is set to meet today and make a decision on whether to censure Burr.
Over the weekend, state party Chairman Michael Whatley said Burr was sent to Washington to uphold the Constitution.
He added his decision to join with six other Republicans in voting to convict Trump was shocking and disappointing.
The former President was acquitted on a 57-43 vote, falling shy of the two-thirds threshold needed for conviction.
