Utah Senator Mitt Romney is calling for Americans and U.S. leaders to "lower the heat" in their political discourse.
In a statement, the former Republican presidential nominee specifically calls out rhetoric from President Trump against his Democratic rivals, as well as his calls to put former President Obama in jail.
Senator Romney also lists examples from Democrats, including when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tore up a copy of the president's State of the Union address.
Romney then warns that such attacks "kindle the conspiracy mongers and the haters" to go "from intemperate word to dangerous action."
