Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is still pushing his call for the appointment of a coronavirus czar at the White House.
The New York Democrat talked by phone with new White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and said a new czar appointee should be overseeing production and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.
Schumer has recommended appointing a general or admiral as the new coronavirus czar. He has also been pushing President Trump to fully invoke the Defense Production Act to speed development and distribution of supplies and protective gear.
