House Republicans are defending President Trump's annual budget blueprint.
Arkansas Republican Steve Womack told Capitol reporters that the White House proposal would help put the nation on a sustainable, responsible path. He said that includes deficit reduction measures. Womack is the top Republican on the House Budget Committee. Trump's four-point-eight trillion dollar plan proposes deep cuts in domestic spending and another hefty boost in defense spending.
House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy said President Trump and congressional Republicans "understand the cost of freedom." He argued that Democrats "won't even produce a budget."
