Republicans say it is time to vote on the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Opening the Senate today, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the FBI's investigation of sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh uncovered nothing of substance. He called some of the allegations patently ridiculous. McConnell said the controversy over Kavanaugh has become a shameful spectacle. The results of the brief FBI probe were sent to the Senate early today.
South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham said he's satisfied with the report and is ready to vote. Democrats argue that the FBI investigation was far too limited in scope. The probe was a follow-up to Kavanaugh's prior FBI background investigation.
