Gap Apologizes For Selling Shirt With "Incorrect Map" of China


Gap has halted production and ordered currently produced shirts baring a map of China to be destroyed after if was pointed out that they "failed to reflect the correct map of China."

The issue was brought to light after a Chinese social media user posted a photo of the shirt taken at an outlet mall in Canada.

The map in question omitted some Chinese territories, "including south Tibet, the island of Taiwan and the South China Sea," according to Reuters.

In a statement posted to its on its Weibo account in China on Monday, the company wanted to "sincerely apologize for this unintentional error," and note that "Gap Inc. respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China."
