A news crew was arrested after trying to sneak a fake explosive device past security at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Sources said the crew was filming for either CNBC or possibly the Endemol production company. Endemol produces shows like MasterChef and The Biggest Loser.
TSA said the group "attempted to intentionally carry through the security checkpoint an item in a carry-on bag that had all of the makings of an improvised explosive device. At the same time, others in the group covertly filmed the encounter."
The fake device consisted of PVC pipe with wires sticking out of it. Once TSA determined there wasn't a threat, the crew was taken into custody.
Do you give the crew credit for trying to check on airport security or was this just a bad attempt at sensationalizing a situation?
