What The Next Stages Of The Texas Senate Race

The Democrats are now gearing up for the November general election, when Talarico will attempt to beat Attorney General Ken Paxton and become the first Democrat to win statewide elected office in Texas since 1994.

You can expect the Democrats to double down on Talarico this year. Political consultant Luke Macias predicted massive spending, saying: “I think Democrats are going to spend a quarter of a billion dollars at minimum. Republicans are taking that seriously and rallying around Ken Paxton.”

Following Paxton’s victory, a number of top Republicans have rallied behind him, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who was previously thought to be firmly in now-defeated incumbent John Cornyn’s camp. Even Cornyn himself has pledged to support the Republican ticket, presumably including Ken Paxton.

Macias went on to predict that most of James Talarico’s money will go toward attacking Ken Paxton on a personal level, rather than pushing actual policy or attacking Paxton’s policies. “It has been the left’s strategy for the last several years as they tried to cancel Ken Paxton, and I don’t think they’ll stop that. But it hasn’t worked,” he said.

He went on to say that Paxton will also likely have a lot of money start to come into his campaign, too, and advised that it be used to expose James Talarico’s history of pushing radical leftism in the Texas House.
