President Trump provided another update on the war with Iran, stating that they've had “very good talks over the last 24 hours” and suggesting a deal could be close.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, "They want to make a deal badly,” Trump said, adding that “it’s very possible that we’ll make a deal.”
The President also declared again, "I think we won now", while reiterating again, “They can’t have nuclear weapons. It’s very simple,” adding that Iran has “agreed to that, among other things.”
Trump also warned that diplomacy has limits, saying quote, “If we don’t get what we have to get, we’ll have to go a big step further."
Earlier today, Axios reported that the U.S. and Iran could be nearing an agreement that would end the war in Iran and the Iranian government’s nuclear ambitions.
A one-page Memorandum of Understanding, which contains 14 key points—including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic and the cessation of hostilities—is supposedly on the verge of being signed.
The White House has not directly confirmed these reports, but a post from President Trump on Truth Social appears to lend them some validity. “Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran,” the President said.
As of 9:30 a.m., crude oil prices had fallen to roughly $95.00 as a result of the news.
