Texas Executes Third Inmate This Year For Fatal 2008 North Texas Robbery

A north Texas man on death row was executed by the state this evening for a 2008 fatal robbery.

37-year-old James Broadnax long insisted he was not the shooter in the deaths of Stephen Swan and Matthew Butler at Butler's Garland recording studio, a robbery perpetrated with his cousin Demarius Cummings. In the end, Cummings received life without parole, while Broadnax was given the death penalty.

In recent weeks, Cummings was stated saying he pulled the trigger, not Broadnax. Before his execution, Broadnax recanted his original confession stating he was the shooter, saying it was false because he did not care about his life at the time.

His last appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court. it is the third person executed in Texas this year.
