Five people were hospitalized, including one child, after two reported natural gas explosions in a North Side neighborhood on Tuesday night.
Crews initially responded just after 6 p.m. to reports of a house that had an explosion and caught fire. San Antonio Fire Chief Valerie Frausto said the second explosion came around 8 p.m. while crews and media were still on scene. She said the second explosion was similar to the first, with sheet rock and insulation being blown across the street.
Three people, including one child, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition after the initial explosion. Two more people were also transported to the hospital after the second explosion. At least three of the cases have been confirmed as life-threatening.
Chief Frausto said a total of 10 homes were evacuated, with five homes on each side.
