Trump: Ceasefire Holds as Iran Brings New Proposal

The ceasefire between the US and Israel on one side and Iran on the other will continue until Iran can "come up with a unified proposal," President Donald Trump said Tuesday.

He had previously stated that the ceasefire that began two weeks ago would end on Wednesday and he would be unlikely to extend it, but the president's new post on Truth Social seems to indicate an attempt on the part of Iran to hammer out a new proposal that could include modifications of early political and policy positions.

President Trump said he recognizes that the Iranian government is "seriously fractured."

Vice President J. D. Vance met with President Trump on Tuesday, along with other administration officials, before heading to Islamabad, Pakistan, where face-to-face peace negotiations are reportedly set for Wednesday.

President Trump stated that he based his Tuesday decision by request of officials in Pakistan, the nation hosting talks between the two sides in the Iran war.

The Naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will continue unabated, the president wrote.
