Negotiators from the US are headed to Pakistan for another round of peace talks. However, Iranian negotiators may not join them.
Tehran claims that the American blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is a violation of the ceasefire that expires this week. The Iranians closed the waterway, and then fired at a couple of tankers in the Gulf of Oman.
The US fired at an Iranian-flagged tanker that was trying to get around the blockade that started earlier in April. American forces than seized that tanker.
On social media, President Trump said a U.S. Navy guided missile destroyer in the Gulf of Oman warned the Iranian-flagged ship, the Touska, to stop and then “stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom." U.S. Marines had custody of the U.S.-sanctioned vessel and were “seeing what’s on board!”
Trump also said Monday morning that Israel had not talked him into any military action that has been taken in the Middle East.
