San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) firefighters and paramedical first responders say they've performed more than a dozen water rescues, and the Cibolo Fire Department says they rescued three students from high water at FM 1103 and Buffalo Crossing, after heavy rain caused flooding in the area.

Due to the severe weather, Tuesday’s "Ain’t Gonna Resta ‘Til After Fiesta" dance has been postponed and disABILITYsa's "Celebration Day" has been cancelled. Fiesta De Los Reyes organizers have also announced a delayed start to festivities, which are now scheduled to begin at noon.

The SAFD stated, "As of now we have responded to 9 calls for high water investigations or rescues. NONE of these called required technical rescues as of now. At most we have had to escort drivers out of high, standing water, said Joe Arrington with SAFD. "Just because a barricade may not be in place DO NOT drive through standing water, as it may very well be deeper than appears."

They remind drivers of the "Turn Around, Don't Drown" campaign, emphasizing safety by advising that drivers just turn their vehicles around "to play it safe" when faced with deciding whether to drive through high water.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), "a steady soaking of rain" is expected.

In addition to San Antonio, the areas of Boerne, Pleasonton, Uvalde, New Braunfels, Gonzales, and Cuero could see rain amounts from a quarter to 1.50 inches, with some isolated areas seeing 3 inches.

There is also a level one risk for flooding in the region.
