President Trump says U.S. forces aren’t going anywhere just yet, staying positioned near Iran until a real peace deal is locked in.
He made it clear Wednesday the military will remain on standby to make sure any agreement is followed and to keep pressure on Iran. That comes after a newly announced two-week ceasefire, with more talks expected soon.
Trump says any deal must include a nuclear-free Iran and keep the Strait of Hormuz open and secure, a major route for global energy.
Vice President JD Vance and other U.S. officials are expected to head to Pakistan this weekend to continue negotiations.
Meanwhile, some international leaders are pushing to expand ceasefire efforts as tensions remain high across the region.
