We haven't heard much about 'DOGE' lately, but the problem of government waste, fraud, and abuse, still exists. And fixing the problem needs to start at the state level.
"Every state has it's own authority to tax and spend, you don't need the federal government mucking around in state affairs" said Chuck DeVore with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, "This cannot go on forever, and a huge part of that is waste, fraud, and abuse at the state level. So we really need to get a handle on it, or we're not going to have a country eventually."
So, what's going on? Basically, the federal government has been sending billions to subsidize select states, and push agenda's.
"What the federal government has been doing is borrowing a lot of money, and then sending it down to the states, and essentially buying the states allegiance with this borrowed money" DeVore told KTRH.
It's borrowed money that our government can longer continue to print & spend, not with a debt of over $39 trillion. The sending of money to the states needs to stop.
"Because it's mostly federal money, what you find is there's just not a lot of concern that that money is being spent properly" noted DeVore, "There's just tremendous fraud, ripping the taxpayers off for millions of dollars, and the state doesn't really care so much because it's not -their- tax money."
