Paxton Slams Cornyn Over Failing SAVE Act

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, in his role as runoff candidate for US Senator from Texas, called the current Senator a coward for not moving to save the SAVE act.

In an interview Saturday, Mr. Paxton said he's focusing on election integrity, saying, "the most important thing we can do to save this country is to protect our elections in states that refuse to do that."

The SAVE Act, the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, requires documented proof of US citizenship in order to vote in federal elections, and also imposes new voter ID requirements.

But Attorney General Paxton said of Senator John Cornyn in a Breitbart interview, "He’s promised the State of Texas that he’s the guy, he’s conservative, he’s pro-Trump. He cares about the Save America Act, but he’s the only one that can actually get it done. And right now he’s not getting it done. It’s as we just said, lip service, big talk. This has been typical of John Cornyn for 24 years in the Senate and 40 years-plus in office. A lot of talk but no delivering.”

A statement of reply is expected from the John Cornyn campaign later on Saturday.
