Party Poopers: Left "Turned Off" By Olympic Patriotism

Just when it seemed America finally had a moment we could all rally around in national pride amidst these divisive times, the left had to try to ruin it. As most of the country basked in the afterglow of the U.S. men's hockey Olympic gold medal victory, which followed the women's gold medal days earlier, liberals couldn't help but pout in the corner. The liberal HuffPost posted the headline, "If waving the American flag or chanting "USA!" turns you off right now, you're not alone."

The piece lamented how hard it is to be patriotic while the hated Donald Trump is in the White House. In other words, their Trump Derangement Syndrome overrides their love of country. The article drew strong backlash, most notably in the form of a three-word reply from the account of Jimmy's Famous Seafood in Baltimore.

The left further attacked the team for happily taking a phone call from President Trump in the locker room after their big win, and inviting FBI Director Kash Patel to join in on the postgame celebration.

An Olympic gold medal for U.S. men's hockey, which hadn't happened since the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980, should have been as uniting today as it was for that 1980 team. KTRH's Clay Travis recently spoke to Will Cain on Fox News about the Miracle on Ice, which happened when a Democrat was in the White House. "In 1980, Walter Mondale was the vice president and he was in the locker room celebrating with the team afterward, and he got (President) Jimmy Carter to call," says Travis. "And you know what everyone thought, even though Jimmy Carter was doing an awful job as president? Thank the Lord, God Bless America, this is exactly what we want to see happen."

"This was when Democrats still behaved like men."

Travis tells Cain Americans should be able to be proud of Olympic accomplishments without politics getting in the way. "I would have the exact same opinion if this was a Democrat in office, congratulate the U.S. men and the U.S. women," he says. "What the Olympics represent is exceptionalism, and America is the most exceptional nation in the history of the world, and I want our athletes to say that, believe it, and feel it when they are competing."
