While Democrats, and their allies in the media, are celebrating a victory in the November midterms, there are some on the left who think the Dems may have already -lost- the 2028 presidential election.
"The Wall Street Journal is right, the options for the Democratic presidential candidates right now go from bad to worse" said Jeanette Hoffman, who is a Republican strategist.
According to the Real Clear Politics polling average, Kamala Harris leads the Dems with 31%, followed by Gavin Newsom at 22%. Then you have Pete Buttigieg in third with only 9%, followed by AOC, and Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro.
"I think the heart of the party right now is with AOC, who we just saw in Munich with an absolute disaster" Hoffman told KTRH, "And then you have Gavin Newsom who has a terrible record. So I think the WSJ is right calling for a fresh face."
That could be someone like ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, but either way, the WSJ op-ed calls the Dems list, "lackluster".
"I think that's more of a function of name identification, but I think people have seen that movie, and they don't want to see a sequel" noted Hoffman, "They need some fresh blood to even make an attempt at winning."
In other words, the 2028 Democrat primary should be considered wide open,
