As the radical left continues to rage against federal immigration enforcement and ICE, some—including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN)—have gone as far as to publicly call for the entire Department of Homeland Security to be abolished.
According to comments from Omar at an event last week, there have already been discussions within the Democratic caucus about how to do exactly that.
Abolishing DHS, which was created by Congress in November 2002 as part of the national response to the 9/11 terror attacks, would require the dismantling or reassigning of multiple law enforcement agencies currently controlled by the department.
Former Navy SEAL and FBI Special Agent Jonathan Gilliam warned that doing so could leave the nation defenseless. “You have to look at it [DHS] as a holding agency for other agencies,” he said. “The Secret Service is under DHS, the Coast Guard is under DHS, and on and on.”
Gilliam went on to say that the entire process would be complete and utter chaos if it were actually attempted. But according to him, that might be exactly what Omar and her fellow radicals are after. “They want to go back to the Biden era,” he explained. “Everything you saw during the four years of Joe Biden—it wasn’t just Joe Biden. Those were the leftists, the communists, the fundamentalist Muslims.”
He also warned that we should take this seriously, because the Democrats will almost certainly attempt it if and when they get back into power.
