Trump Wins Elections, But The Struggle Continues For Republicans

We all know how well elections go when President Trump is on the ballot. Unfortunately, that success has not carried over the GOP as a whole.

"People vote for people" said Aaron Evans, president of 'Winning Republican Strategies', "And I think that at the end of the day, voters are skeptical of both parties, and rightfully so."

This on-going GOP problem came to a head last weekend, when Democrat, Taylor Rehmet won the state senate race by more than 14 points in a red-leaning Ft. Worth-area district.

"The Republican Party certainly has work to do around the country, but ultimately candidates have to own the race, own the moment , and inspire them to go get off the couch and go vote for them" Evans told KTRH, "Give them something to be excited about."

It's what Trump does, but why the struggle for other Republicans?

"These aren't people that are coming out in masses because they think the Republican Party is great, they're coming out in masses because they believe in the vision and the person of Donald Trump" noted Evans, "And so, that is the challenge for a lot of these down-ballot races around the country."

And that is the challenge ahead of the November midterms. Republicans, even in red states like here in Texas, cannot take votes or voters, for granted.
