Just one year ago, President Trump took the oath of office in the Capitol Rotunda and began his term as the 47th President of the United States of America. So what has his first year looked like, and what will the next three years of his administration hold?

Political analyst Chris Begala detailed what he thinks was the biggest success of Trump’s first year: the border. “The border is absolutely shut down,” he said. “That is a law-and-order issue; it is a terroristic issue.”

Begala pointed out that President Trump was able to make historic progress on that issue in just days—something the Democrats and the Biden administration completely failed to address.

Begala also says Trump restored the major damage done to the United States’ global reputation by President Joe Biden. “This country was a laughingstock,” he said. “Now the United States is respected—but also feared when you want to be feared.”

So now, with three years still remaining in his administration, what does President Trump do next? Begala says he should continue to push for more investments into border security and immigration enforcement, as well as continuing his work on the international level.

He also says Trump should keep working on the economy—but did point out that while the president can influence the economy, he doesn’t have complete control over it.
