Many of Trump’s foreign policy moves—especially the recent deposing of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro—have received pushback from Republicans, primarily Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) and now-former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Fortunately for Trump, these are the same people who have consistently criticized all of Trump’s foreign policy moves, so he isn’t really losing support over the arrest of Maduro.

As it turns out, the exact opposite might be happening. According to Chris Johnson with the American Energy Leadership Institute: “You’re seeing overwhelming support from the Republican base on this stuff. The idea that the Republican base doesn’t want us to exert authority over our hemisphere is fundamentally wrong.”

Johnson also called out the idea that he’s forsaking American domestic policy, saying this is actually going to be a big win for our domestic energy. “If we can get American energy companies producing oil in Venezuela the way they did before the socialist takeover, there’s a ton of prosperity to be built there,” he explained.

He also pointed out that Venezuelan oil coming to the United States—instead of going to adversarial nations like China and Cuba—will be a major national-security win for us.

Johnson went on to say that if Venezuela could actually become a free and stable nation, we might also see Venezuelans self-deport or re-migrate back to their home country.
