“Jingle Bells” has been a favorite holiday classic for decades, but former MSNBC host Joy Reid is now pushing claims that the nearly 200-year-old Christmas carol is actually a racist tune meant to mock Black people.
She recently shared a video promoting the idea that because the song was originally performed in antebellum-era minstrel shows—and composed by a man who later served the state of Georgia during the Civil War—it can no longer be accepted in public life.
The claim is now being blasted as yet another desperate bid for attention by Joy Reid and others. RNC Committeeman Dr. Robin Armstrong addressed it, saying: “It just goes in line with this grievance culture that the left has come up with—that the Democrats have come up with. Everyone wants to be a victim.”
Armstrong went on to say that the reason the left is constantly looking for reasons to feel victimized is simply so they can campaign off that victimization. “Everything is about an agenda for them,” he explained, “and it’s about sowing seeds of divisiveness just for political purposes. It’s really unfortunate.”
He also says that, unfortunately for the Democrats, this particular campaign strategy just doesn’t work anymore. Armstrong believes most Americans are going to simply ignore all of this because they’re tired of walking on eggshells.
