As the Trump administration continues the clean up after the Biden wide-open border crisis, a Republican Senator believes it is also time to tackle another immigration issue.
Ohio GOP Senator, Bernie Moreno says it's time to end dual citizenship here in the U.S. And many experts agree.
"Dual citizenship is absurd, of course we should end it" said Mark Krikorian, executive director for the Center For Immigration Studies, "The real reason this is a problem is mass immigration. This happens because we're letting in more than a million people every year without end."
As noted by Fox News Digital, our current law allows for Americans to hold citizenship both at home and abroad and does not require that a person choose one allegiance over the other.
But Senator Moreno’s bill, titled the Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025, is billed as a measure that would bolster the interests of the U.S. out of concern that holding dual citizenship creates "conflicts of interest and divided loyalties."
"It's absolutely overdue, dual citizenship is a self evident absurdity " Krikorian told KTRH, "I'd love to ban it, but realistically, why don't we just reduce immigration so it shrinks over time and isn't all that big of a problem."
The bill would change immigration law to make current dual citizens choose between the U.S. and whichever country they hold citizenship in. Those that do not comply would automatically lose their U.S. citizenship.
