Texas Airport Among the Slowest for Air Travel

There's been plenty of cold weather in the US as the Thanksgiving holidays wound down and, not coincidentally, plenty of airport flight delays, with one Texas airport among the worst for flight connections.

The worst airport for mobility over the past several days has been Chicago O'Hare, with more than 200 flight delays and numerous cancellations on Sunday alone, mostly because of snow and ice, forcing the facility to close down intermittently.

And there's no way to blame any one airport for being responsible for all its flight delays when airports around the country are experiencing similar problems, so when one flight is late taking off it means a late arrival at its destination and a longer turn-around before that jet is ready for a new trip elsewhere.

But the airport with the second largest number of flight cancellations on Sunday and portions of Saturday was the Dallas Fort Worth International airport, with 120 delays and reports of some passengers being stuck at the airport for hours, much like Chicago.

The Dallas area saw rain over the weekend, leaving potential for ice in some areas as temperatures drop below freezing on Sunday night into Monday's rush hour.

The northern half of Texas is expected to see those freezing temperatures for a few hours Monday, with lows around freezing both Monday and Tuesday morning for portions of West Texas, including Midland and Odessa.

It usually among the coldest areas of the state this time of year, and Amarillo is no disappointment as the post-Thanksgiving week gets started, looking at a week of below-freezing mornings with wind-chill dropping below 20 on more than one day this week.
