Senate Agreement Announced That Could "End" Shutdown

US Senators say they have a new deal that could signal an end to the federal government shutdown.

A vote is expected later Sunday night, but several sources say enough Democrats and Republicans have agreed to the arrangement that it would likely pass.

The plan would not include funding for healthcare, which many Democrats said was a requirement for any deal, but the new agreement is said to include a handshake promise to vote on funding Obamacare before the healthcare deadline of December 31st.

According to Politico, the new deal would fund veterans programs, the US Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration and military construction -- and would of course fund Congress.

All other departments would have their funding okayed by a separate plan, to be worked out before a deadline of January 30th.

As some point out, the vote to pass the bill isn't certain until the vote happens later tonight, so we'll have updates to this story as warranted.
