We've had a number of major developments when it comes to immigration over the last few months, one of the biggest being that the population of American residents who are foreign-born has seen a massive decrease over the last several months.

Since January, that number has fallen by around 2.2 million, according to data from the most recent Current Population Survey. Dr. Steven Camarota with the Center for Immigration Studies says this shows that Trump's policies are having the intended effect.

He explained that when looking at the data regarding the foreign-born population, we see that, "It's declined a lot. It looks like the decline is primarily among non-citizens from Latin America, and that's an indication that it's illegal immigrants."

Dr. Camarota also pointed out that not only does this show Trump's mass deportations are working, it also shows that the policy of encouraging self-deportations is paying off. He said, "Keep in mind, they haven't deported that many people, so it has to be that it reflects a significant increase in out-migration. People seem to be leaving on their own."

So what does all of this mean for you? Well, Camarota thinks it's primarily good news. He says because these illegal immigrants leaving opens up more housing units, you can expect housing on the cheaper end of the price spectrum to become even cheaper.

He also hinted that the supply of low-skill labor decreasing could lead to wage increases for Americans and legal immigrants, but warned that could come with some price increases for goods and services.
