NYT Poll: Support For Israel Dropping, Mostly Among Democrat Party

Support for Israel among Americans is dropping, according to a New York Times poll. That is not to say there is no support left. Republicans still largely hold support for Israel, as do some Democrats. But the Left has started pulling back their support of the Jewish state, and voiced their support instead for a free Palestinian state.

Democrats have cried that Hamas is in the right, and Israel is committing war crimes, for months now. None of which has any tangible proof. So, as a result, the support among the Left for Israel has started declining rapidly.

Joel Pollak of Breitbart says this drop in support comes down to their hatred for President Trump, as most of their political actions do.

"They see Trump is a strong supporter of Israel...and right now, Democrats do not really have a set of principles, except to just opposed anything Trump does," he says.

In that NYT poll, seven in ten Republicans said they support additional aid to Israel, with a majority also saying Israel needs to continue their actions until the job is done. The logic behind that is simple. Hamas, a terrorist organization, attacked Israel over antisemitic reasoning. Therefore, Israel has the right to defend and punch back as hard as they want.

Now, maybe Democrats do come back to supporting Israel, especially if a peaceful end comes from the war. But do not hold your breath.

"It could be temporary...but there could be some permanent damage done. As more people leave the Democrat party, what is left behind in their wake will be the pro-Palestinian, anti-Semitic Left," says Pollak.

Republican support has dropped slightly, to be fair. In 2023, 76 percent of Republicans sympathized with Israel over Palestine, compared to just 64 percent in this most recent finding.

The Democrats support will continue to drop as well, as Jewish Senator Chuck Schumer slowly becomes the face of the party. You would think Schumer would be 100 percent in favor of supporting Israel. But really, he is indifferent, and that is the biggest part of the problem.

"He told Jewish voters his name meant he is the guardian of Israel...instead he has basically turned out to be a lap dog for the Left," Pollak says.

Pollak adds the Democrats have lost all their principles because of their hatred for President Trump.
