Judge Rejects Kilmar Abrego Garcia's Asylum Request

A judge has rejected an asylum request from Kilmar Abrego Garcia. The immigration judge in Baltimore ruled that Abrego Garcia can't be granted asylum in the U.S., but he know has 30 days to appeal to the Board of Immigration Appeals.

In a post on X, the Department of Homeland Security said “one thing is certain” after the ruling: “This Salvadoran man is not going to be able to remain in our country”. He will likely be sent to Uganda.

Abrego Garcia, also known as an MS-13 gang member, was deported to El Salvador earlier this year, and then was brought back to face human smuggling charges.

However, he can't be deported until a separate case filed in Maryland has been resolved.
