Texas's newly re-drawn congressional maps are facing their first legal challenge.

A trio of federal judges will, today, hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging the way districts were re-drawn. They will decide if it's a violation of the Voting Rights Act.

Republicans argue that President Trump has been making gains with Latino voters. But the previous maps, they say, were drawn in a way to support border Democrats. Governor Greg Abbott has said he is confident the court will uphold the new districts.

The Texas Legislature passed the new maps this summer after Democrats fled the state in a failed attempt to stop them. In response, California has made a move to redo their maps. It's led to a redistricting war, with Missouri jumping into the debate.
