Following the assassination of political activist and influencer Charlie Kirk, many on the far left have been speaking out, not just against Kirk and his message, but in open support of Kirk's assassination and his alleged killer, Tyler Robinson.
This has resulted in a number of more moderate Democrats washing their hands of the left-wing movement completely. That includes author and former gymnast Jennifer Sey, who posted to X, saying, "I want it noted that people are fleeing the Democratic Party. And we are well past caring about being smeared as 'alt-right.' It's dumb."
Another woman posted a nearly 10-minute-long video to X explaining why she was leaving the Democratic Party, saying in part, "There are so many on the left who support an assassination just because you don't agree with somebody. I personally just cannot associate with the left anymore."
Bexar County GOP Vice-Chair Kyle Sinclair says you can expect more moderates to leave both the Democratic Party and the left-wing movement as a whole as long as this continues for one simple reason. He explained, "The majority of society knows that assassinating somebody, in cold-blooded murder, is not a right thing."
Sinclair also said that he doesn't expect the left to reverse course, despite how unpopular what they're doing is. That's because, according to him, "The leadership of the party has been out of the fray and out of touch."
He added that the only prominent members of the left who can still draw a crowd are the radicals like AOC and Gavin Newsom, so the chances they reverse course are slim to none.
