Remember that trip to Paris for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo? According to a local tv report along with Hidalgo's finance disclosures, the extravagant trip cost just under $43K.
Back in May, Hidalgo asked Harris County Commissioners to approve using taxpayer money for the trip, which originally was supposed to cost $23,000. The Commissioner's said no.
She tried a couple of weeks later and was denied again, so she tried to get the ok for $11K for just herself and a couple of staff members. That was also rejected by fellow Democrats Lesley Briones and Adrian Garcia, along with the lone Republican, Tom Ramsey.
The report says Hidalgo spent $25,079 on lodging, $17,422 on airfare, and $337 to Uber. The report did not include any meals.
Hidalgo has been under fire recently for using children to try and coerce a vote and approval for continuation of a childcare program that was started with Covid money.
